INDEPENDENCE HALL 0F KOREA 獨立記念館

The Independence Hall of Korea is a Korean history museum in Chonan, Korea. Opened on August 15, 1987, it has the largest exhibition facility in Korea, with a total floor area of 23,424 square meters. The museum focuses on the independence movements of the Japanese colonial period: however, the first exhibition hall, The Hall of National Heritage, is dedicated to the period ranging from prehistoric times to the Joseon Dynasty. It has seven indoor exhibition halls and a Circle Vision Theater.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF KOREA 國立中央博物館

Since its establishment in 1945, the National Museum of Korea has been committed to various studies and research activities in the fields of archaeology, history, and art, continuously developing a variety of exhibitions and education programs. The museum is divided into three floors. Symbolically, the left side to re4present the past, while the right represents the future. On the first floor is the Prehistory and Ancient History Gallery. The second floor contains the Donation, and Calligraphy Gallery. The third floor contains the Sculpture and Crafts Gallery.

HAEUNDAE BEACH 海雲臺海水浴場

Haeundae Beach is located at the southeast end of the city of Busan. Along the 12 km of coastline is Busan's most popular beach. Because of its easy access from downtown Busan and the famous beach atmosphere, the beach is busy year around. Dongbaekseoum (Dongbaek Island), located at the south end of the beach, offers a view of the sea by car and its coastline is famous for fishing. Orykdo (Oryuk Iselet), a symbol of Busan to many Koreans, can be seen in the distance from Dongbaek Island.

GANGGANGSULLAE (MAIDENS' ROUND DANCE) 강강술래 重要無形文化財 8號

Ganggangsullae is a traditional female-only entertainment. The village maidens gather on clear moonlight nights and skipped along hand-in hand in a circle while singing the song with refrain "Ganggangsullae." The lead singer carries a melody while the rest respond by singing "ganggangsullae." The performance begins at a slow rhythm and gradually speedup. The dance is performed on the 15th of the first and eighth lunar month when the moon is full. It has a lyrical dance where the dancing maidens recreate the shape of the round moon on earth.

BELL OF THE GREAT KING SEONG-DEOK (聖德大王神鐘)

This bell was named the Emile Bell because a young child who was sacrificed during the making of this bell yelled out "Emile, emile (mommy, mommy)" from inside the bell after he was melded into it. It is said that "This bell has not existed before and will never exist again : there is only one Emile Bell." The bell is 3.77 meters tall, 7 meters in circumference, 2.27 meters in diameter at its mouth, 22 centimeters thick below, 10 centimeters thick above, and 20 to 22 tons in weight. Overall, it has the shape of an upside-down paper cup. It is National Treasure No.29.

SEUNGMU (MONK DANCE) 僧舞重要無形文化財 27號

Seungmu or Monk Dance, is the epitome of Korean folk dance. It was created in the mid-Joseon period and established as a representative folk dance along with the Salpuri dance. The dance may be said to be depicting the torment and suffering of an apostate Buddhist monk, but the dance movements require advanced levels of technical skil, and precision. The slow and dignified movements contrast to the swift, linear, and powerful action of the hansom. The music is an mix of all the major Korean rhythms, and the tune of the accompanying music changes eleven times.The dancer reaches a state of rapture and the audience experiences catharsis.
